Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the 5th movie in the series. The entire cast has returned to their roles which is one of the reasons I really enjoy the Harry Potter Films. The acting is above average as usual. Visually, this movie is continues the darker feel with an opening scene that will remind you of 28 Weeks Later. This latest film was some what of a let down for me though. It is the first time in the series I felt that the movie didn’t hold up as a solid film. The title is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, yet the Order of the Phoenix is hardly in the movie, and has little to no introduction of new characters. I do not read the Harry Potter books, yet I have never left a Harry Potter movie feeling I needed to read the book until now. The other movies feel as if they tell a complete story, and while I’m sure things from the books where glossed over I still felt I received a complete experience. I don’t feel that I should need to read a book to enjoy a movie. I was told, “It’s a novelty to see the characters at this point”, and I have to agree with that statement. You’ve literally watched Harry and his friends grow up. Fans of the series that have read the book will not be let down at all. I may have gone into this movie with too high of hopes, which is my fault. This may also be a case of taking a good series for granted. But, when I see the villain of a series defeated with one hand, it seems… disappointing. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is a good Harry Potter movie, but it’s not a good movie.
