Major League Baseball 2k6

2K’s MLB series makes its way to the XBox 360, and unfortunately, it’s not as cheap as its counterparts for the other consoles. 2K Sports lost its ESPN rights so this year we no longer get all of the ESPN graphics, music and announcers. Instead, we get Jeanne Zelasko and Steve Physioc doing the studio segments while Jon Miller and Joe Morgan perform the in-game commentating. That shouldn’t be so bad considering 2K Sports is now the official developer for MLB games, yes that means EA Sports is out of the game.

There are a few new features compared to last years version, but I wasn’t too fond of them. Some of the new features included a new movement system and realistic player collisions on the infield and outfield. Instead, I found myself changing the settings to last years version, which became extremely repetitive considering the game would freeze all the time.

The graphics were nothing spectacular either, especially since 2k Sports were billing this as the first baseball game for the next-gen console. The game seemed like a cheap port to the 360. I would recommend the game, but only if it were for the old XBox.

The most disappointing thing for me was the constant freezing that occurred during games. I could not get through more than one inning and it was extremely annoying. I tried the workarounds posted on 2k Sports’ website but they didn’t work. It got so frustrating I returned the game. This alone would make me not want to pick up any other version of a 2k Sports game. So my verdict is…
